The ISP Therapy Team is a well-established and multi-disciplined group of professionals, representing a cross-section of clinical expertise and experience such as:
For children and young people who have experienced harrowing circumstances, therapy can offer the most effective route to help them overcome their fears and express their emotions. Ultimately, ISP hopes to give children the ability to grow and mature into well-rounded adults.
Our therapists aim to:
Each child is treated individually and offered a tailored therapy programme, provided during term time and suited to their personal needs. For example, some children have never been able to play so appropriate therapy is given to allow the child to be playful for the first time.
ISP therapy may take several forms. It can be assessment only, a transfer from a previous therapist, short-term assistance or long-term help conducted over several years. Each centre offers well-resourced therapy rooms to allow children to be assisted close to their foster homes and in a safe, familiar environment.
To enhance knowledge and strive to improve working practices, the team regularly meets to pool ideas and share information. It aims to respond quickly to all requests for therapy and provide the most beneficial care and takes an active role in the wider research and therapeutic care community of which we are a part.
