ISP was formed by a group of foster carers, who collectively recognised that children within their care would benefit from gaining immediate and local access to an integrated programme of care and specialist services.
In order to maximise the success of every placement ISP invests heavily in the support network available to our foster carers. We believe this support network is best delivered via our locally based Centres. ISP currently has 6 Centres based in Buckinghamshire, Sussex, London and Kent. Each Centre has its own multi-disciplinary team comprising foster carers, social workers, therapists and educational professionals. Each Centre's location ensures that all ISP Foster Carers are no more than one hour's journey time from their Centre.
Since our inception in 1987, the role and contribution fostering makes to the childcare we provide as a whole, has always remained at the forefront of our consistent progress. We acknowledge that research and our own experience has shown that the quality of foster care, coupled with regular training and a readily available support network drastically improves the chance of a successful foster care placement. We consistently demonstrate our commitment to our foster carers by providing training, support and regular supervision to enhance their professional development in care-giving. This ongoing programme of support strengthens their capacity to look after children and young people who have suffered severe trauma, abuse and deprivation. The selection, training and development of carers is carried out by the ISP Fostering Team based at ISP Central Office, Sittingbourne.
ISP aims to meet all externally set standards and regulations including: The Department of Health Fostering Service National Minimum Standards & Regulations.
